OpenAI will invest more than S$300 million ($234 million) to establish an applied AI lab in Singapore under a multiyear partnership with the government, marking its first such lab outside the US. The initiative will expand OpenAI’s Singapore-based technical team to over 200 roles over the next few years. The company, backed by Microsoft and Nvidia, said the lab will support AI deployment in public services, finance, healthcare and digital infrastructure, while also working with local startups.
