Samsung Electronics could distribute about 40 trillion won ($26.6 billion) in
bonuses to semiconductor employees this year after reaching a last-minute
agreement with labor unions to avoid a strike. Samsung’s chip division employs
about 78,000 people, with average payouts estimated at 513 million won per
worker based on proposed terms and projected 2026 operating profit. Estimates
cited by Yonhap News suggest employees in the memory division could receive
around 600 million won each amid strong demand in the sector.
