People familiar with the matter said ERDOGAN is seeking to arrange a meeting with TRUMP next month, possibly immediately before or after a Turkey v. United States World Cup match in Los Angeles. The potential meeting would be held less than two weeks before a NATO summit to be hosted by Ankara, and, the sources said, comes amid growing signs that Washington plans to pare back its role supporting the military alliance in Europe. The people added that, if a meeting with TRUMP is secured, the two leaders could discuss bilateral and regional ties and each country’s role in NATO’s future development ahead of the summit scheduled for July 7-8.
