Local time May 27, 2026 in New York, CHINA FOREIGN MINISTER WANG YI met with
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bulasuokun. WANG
YI thanked Bulasuokun for attending the UN Security Council high‑level meeting,
saying Cambodia voiced its position, projected its image and boosted its
influence on that platform. Against a disorderly international backdrop,
participants at the meeting jointly called for adherence to the UN Charter,
practice of multilateralism, full use of the UN’s role and rejection of
unilateral bullying. China‑Cambodia relations currently maintain strong
momentum. The first meeting of the China‑Cambodia foreign ministers and defense
ministers "2+2" strategic dialogue was held successfully; both sides agreed to
upgrade it to a diplomatic, defense and public security "3+3" mechanism, which
reflects high‑level mutual trust and signals scope for further development.
China said it is willing to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with
Cambodia, tighten high-level exchanges, advance pragmatic cooperation in trade,
energy, law enforcement and connectivity, strengthen multilateral coordination,
and promote building an all‑weather China‑Cambodia community of shared future in
the new era.
