Local time May 27, 2026, CHINA FOREIGN MINISTER met Turkmenistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meredov in New York. Meredov thanked China for initiating a UN Security Council high-level meeting and inviting Turkmenistan to attend, and said that under the current international situation upholding the UN Charter and reforming and improving global governance are particularly important. Meredov said the visit to China by Turkmen national leader and Chairman of the People's Council Berdimuhamedov was highly successful and thanked China for its warm, friendly reception. The Turkmen side said it highly values its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, citing deep politics mutual trust, frequent high-level exchanges and rapidly expanding pragmatic cooperation. Turkmenistan is willing to work with China to advance major projects including natural gas development, expand cooperation in trade and connectivity, and push bilateral relations to a new level.
