Guatemala has agreed to allow joint operations with the U.S. MILITARY on its
territory to target drug‑trafficking groups, the New York Times cited three
people familiar with the matter. Two sources said President Bernardo Arévalo
spoke last week with U.S. defense minister Pete Hegseth and agreed to airstrikes
and other military actions that could begin as soon as next month. It is unclear
which additional activities the deal may include. Two sources said the PENTAGON
plans to press Honduras as the next country to accept joint military operations.
