May 27 — The 35th meeting of the China‑India Border Affairs Consultation and
Coordination Working Mechanism was held in Beijing, co-chaired by Hou Yanqi,
director of China’s Foreign Ministry Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs,
and Gao Shi, Joint Secretary for East Asia at India’s Ministry of External
Affairs. Delegations from both countries’ foreign, defense, interior and
immigration departments attended. The sides held constructive, pragmatic talks,
affirmed continued peace and calm in border areas, and discussed boundary
delineation, border management, mechanism building and cross‑border exchanges.
They agreed to keep diplomatic and military channels open to maintain border
stability and to prepare for the 25th meeting of the special representatives on
the boundary issue.
