The WMO said in a report on the 28th that 2026–2030 global annual mean
near-surface temperatures could remain at or near record highs, with Arctic
warming exceeding the global average. It projects 2026–2030 mean temperatures
will be 1.3–1.9°C above the pre-industrial (1850–1900) average and assigns an
86% probability that at least one year in the period will exceed 2024 to become
the hottest on record.
