China has published a draft Beibu Gulf Open Development Plan for public comment,
proposing to elevate the Western Land‑Sea New Corridor from a corridor economy
to a hub economy. The draft calls for accelerating a land‑sea trade hub that
radiates to western China, links to ASEAN and serves southwest, central‑south
and South China, and to study and plan a Beibu Gulf bulk commodity
resource‑allocation hub; it seeks upgrades to corridor scale, network,
efficiency and capacity and the development of integrated shipping, customs,
logistics, trade and financial services along the new corridor.
