Travel platforms report outbound summer bookings started earlier than in prior
years. Several airlines have recently reduced international fuel surcharges,
making some short-haul international fares noticeably more attractive. Families
with children remaining the largest segment, accounting for about 40% of
international ticket bookings. Searches for overseas museums and art galleries
are rising faster than for theme parks. Demand for cooler, high-latitude and
southern-hemisphere destinations is strong; Finland and Belgium—favored for
natural scenery and cooler climates—have seen summer ticket bookings nearly
double.
