Cuba's foreign minister Rodríguez said Cuba‑U.S. talks have shown "no progress",
accusing U.S. officials of inconsistency and hostile public statements. He said
Cuba will seek to avoid military escalation but will defend its independence and
will act in self-defense if attacked; a war between the two countries would
produce a humanitarian disaster.
