The 23rd Shangri‑La Dialogue opened in Singapore on the evening of the 29th, drawing more than 550 officials, defense ministers and experts from over 40 countries and territories. Attendees include Chinese Communist Party General Secretary and President Su Lin, East Timor President Orta and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Delegates are focusing on regional peace and security, with the Middle East’s impact on Asian energy and security highlighted as a key agenda item. A People’s Liberation Army academic delegation, led by National Defense University Professor Meng Xiangqing and including experts from the National Defense University, Academy of Military Sciences and the navy, will participate and speak at the first parallel session, How to Manage Threats to Strategic Stability, on the 30th.
