The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) fell 2 points, or 0.1%, to 3,224 on Friday but
recorded a second consecutive monthly gain as demand across vessel classes
stayed firm, leaving the index near its highest level since December 2023. The
Capesize index (BCI) dropped 14 points, or 0.3%, to 5,503 — up about 27%
month-to-date — with Capesize daily earnings down $127 to $46,411. The Panamax
index (BPI) rose 12 points, or 0.5%, to 2,343 for a second month of gains;
Panamax daily earnings increased $108 to $21,086. The Supramax/Ultramax index
(BSI) was unchanged at 1,569, also posting a second monthly rise. The Handysize
index (BHSI) gained 4 points to 851.
