May 29 — A U.S. federal judge in Washington, D.C., ordered President Trump’s
name removed from the Kennedy Center and enjoined a planned roughly two-year
closure for renovations. The White House announced in December 2025 it would
rename the venue the Trump-Kennedy Center; Rep. Joyce Beatty, an Ohio Democrat
and Kennedy Center board member, sued to rescind the renaming. Trump had said in
February the Trump-Kennedy Center would suspend performances from July for about
two years to allow renovations.
