The IAEA said on May 31 its staff found external damage to a motor room at the
Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Director General Rafael Grossi said attacks on
nuclear facilities are unacceptable and must stop. Inspectors reported a damaged
metal maintenance hatch above the motor room, debris and charred optical-fiber
fragments on the ground; the damage pattern was consistent with a drone strike.
No abnormal radiation levels were detected on site. Inspectors heard drone
activity and gunfire nearby during the visit.
