Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance said on
June 1 it will suspend veterinary certification of Armenian live fish and
fish-product exports to Russia from June 2, except for two firms that passed
inspection. Inspectors checked Armenian fish processors and rainbow trout farms
May 21-27; roughly half of targeted companies refused inspection and the agency
described results as unsatisfactory. The two approved producers may export to
Russia only under ongoing laboratory safety monitoring. The agency on May 30
also restricted imports of Armenian fruit and vegetables.
