Meituan released Q1 results. Management said as food-delivery subsidies are pared back, competition is shifting toward efficiency and user experience. If competition remains rational and Q2 seasonality holds, the company expects Q2 takeout unit economics (UE) to be materially stronger than Q1. CEO Wang Xing said ongoing regulatory guidance should help restore rational competition; Meituan is confident it can maintain an operational-efficiency lead and that its long-term UE will return to a reasonable level.
