At a Brussels briefing on June 1, the EU called on Israel to stop military
escalation in Lebanon and to respect Lebanese sovereignty and territory
integrity, urging continued diplomatic efforts to secure long-term stability. On
UNIFIL’s authorization, which expires end-2026, the EU said it is studying a new
EU security and defense mission to help Lebanon strengthen state control and
border security.
