CNBC reports Anthropic has confidentially submitted an IPO registration
statement to the US SEC. OpenAI founder Altman said he had only just learned of
the filing and that there is no competition to be the first publicly listed AI
company; he framed the contest as one over technology and building the best
business, called an IPO a financing event, and said OpenAI will go public when
the timing is right.
