GCL Group chairman Zhu Gongshan said the concept of a standalone photovoltaic
manufacturer may disappear as PV’s manufacturing and energy attributes decouple.
He forecast surviving firms that overcome cyclical and structural pressures will
evolve into digital energy asset operators, zero-carbon solution providers and
AI+energy technology service providers. Zhu said there will be no pure power
generators—only digital economic entities operating on energy networks—and PV
companies will shift from kWh-focused manufacturing to services such as direct
green power supply, compute leasing, token sales, AaaS subscriptions and AI
factory solutions.
