On June 2 the European Parliament’s international trade committee voted to
approve the US-EU trade agreement. The accord was first announced in July 2025
by US President Trump and European Commission President Von der Leyen; its
ratification was delayed for months after tensions following US demands for
Denmark’s autonomous territory Greenland and a US Supreme Court ruling that
large-scale US tariff policy was unlawful. The European Parliament backed
conditional implementation on March 26 and EU member states accepted the
parliament’s recommendations in May.
