[Russia Reportedly Resupplyes Syrian Air Base for First Time Since Late 2024] On June 1st, local time, according to US sources, a cargo ship departed from St. Petersburg, Russia in March and arrived at the Syrian port of Tartus in May, delivering military equipment to the Russian Khmeimim Air Base. The report states that this is the first time Russia has delivered supplies to the Khmeimim Air Base since the regime change in Syria in December 2024. Satellite images from US companies Vantage and Planet Labs show the cargo ship "Sparta" loading cargo in St. Petersburg in March, sailing along the European coast towards Syria on the eastern Mediterranean coast, and arriving at the port of Tartus on May 11th. Unnamed US officials stated that Russian naval vessels escorted the "Sparta" through the Mediterranean. The Syrian transitional government, the US Central Command, and the Russian Ministry of Defense declined to comment.
