SoftBank shares rallied as much as 14.71% yesterday, lifting market value to ¥48.0 trillion (about US$306bn) and briefly overtaking Toyota’s roughly ¥46.0 trillion, ending Toyota’s more-than-20-year run as Japan’s largest listed company by market cap. At today’s Tokyo close SoftBank market cap was ¥49.3 trillion versus Toyota ¥44.92 trillion.
