Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled Project Solara, a platform to support products that use AI agents as primary interfaces, aiming to move AI agents off laptop screens and into enterprise mobile devices. It showed two concept designs co-developed with Qualcomm and MediaTek: an enhanced employee badge with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other wireless connectivity, a touchscreen and fingerprint reader; and a compact, thick-screen desktop-style device. Microsoft and Qualcomm CEOs said new device form factors optimized for specific operating environments and able to run dedicated AI agents are needed because existing PC and phone interfaces are not always optimal.
