The Cuban government on the 2nd rejected US sanctions and allegations against
the Cuban Enterprise Management Group, saying the company exists to promote
Cuba’s economic and social development. Cuba said the US executive order
published May 1 designated the group and threatens secondary sanctions on
foreign entities that do business with it, calling the measure the most intense,
disproportionate and dangerous escalation in recent bilateral relations aimed at
isolating Cuba across diplomatic, commercial, financial and energy sectors and
creating a pretext for possible military intervention.
