The IAEA said early on the 3rd that the Nikopol substation on the opposite bank
was struck by drones, knocking out the plant’s only remaining external
transmission line for about 20 minutes. This is the 17th complete loss of
off‑site power at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant since the Russia‑Ukraine
conflict began. IAEA Director General Grossi said the incident highlighted the
ongoing risks to nuclear safety from the hostilities.
