China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular briefing that
after Beijing criticized comments by Japan's defense minister Koizumi and
Tokyo's defense ministry called China's claims "not factual", Japan is evading
discussion of its militarist aggression. She accused Tokyo of packaging overseas
deployments as collective self-defence, relabeling strengthened offensive
capabilities as "counterstrike" development, masking lethal-weapons exports
through equipment and technology cooperation, and warned that the more Japan
conceals, the greater the need for international vigilance.
