The US State Department said on June 3 that Israel and Lebanon have accepted US
guidance to rapidly establish pilot zones in which the Lebanese Armed Forces
(LAF) will exercise exclusive control and all non-state actors will be excluded.
A ceasefire is conditional on two preconditions: Hezbollah must fully stop
firing and all Hezbollah personnel must withdraw from south of the Litani River.
Delegations, building on May 29 defense talks, discussed a security framework
and agreed to restart the political and security track in the week of June 22
aiming for a comprehensive agreement.
