On June 3 U.S. Southern Command said Joint Task Force Spear of the South
conducted a kinetic strike on a vessel operated by an organization designated as
a terrorist group. Intelligence, the command said, confirmed the ship was
transiting a known drug‑trafficking route in the eastern Pacific and
participating in narcotics smuggling. Two male suspects described by the command
as drug terrorists were killed. No U.S. personnel were injured.
