Inspectors general from the Pentagon, State Department and USAID have opened a joint review of U.S. military action involving Iran, CNN reported June 3, saying they are legally authorized to review overseas military actions that continue beyond 60 days. Under the War Powers Resolution, once the president notifies Congress of military force the president must halt such operations within 60 days or secure congressional authorization to continue. On May 1 President Trump sent a letter to Congress saying U.S. hostilities with Iran had "ended," a move cited as an attempt to evade the 60‑day limit.
