Persistent rain is delaying Russia's spring wheat sowing and could reduce
harvests. Agriculture ministry estimates obtained via two local traders show
about 7.1 mln ha soon as of May 26, down 12% YoY. The Russian Federal Service
for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring says rainfall in key
spring-crop areas, including the Volga region and Siberia, has been 60–118%
above seasonal normals, leaving soils too wet for fieldwork and sowing.
