On the 4th in St. Petersburg, Putin told leaders of major news agencies Russia
will not refuse dialogue with Europe. He said it is not “evil Russia” cutting
energy supplies but Europe refusing to buy Russian energy and seeking Russia’s
collapse. Putin added Moscow will only negotiate with counterparts it trusts and
does not trust those who insist Russia must suffer a strategic defeat; he added
in German, “That’s the point.”
