At the WTO Council for Trade in Services' second meeting of the year in Geneva on the 4th, China placed on the agenda and raised serious concerns about the EU's draft cybersecurity law and Industrial Accelerator Act. Beijing said relevant provisions would violate WTO rules and, if adopted, would undermine the authority and effectiveness of multilateral trade rules, and urged the EU to amend them promptly. China specifically called on the EU to delete or substantially modify draft cybersecurity law clauses on “states of cybersecurity concern,” “non-technical risks,” “high-risk suppliers” and related prohibitions and restrictions, and to revise the Industrial Accelerator Act to remove measures that discriminate against specific countries. China said it is willing to keep constructive dialogue with the EU and will closely monitor the EU legislative process.
