Chinese leader Xi met Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith in Beijing on June 5
during a state visit. Xi called for deeper strategic alignment and expanded
cooperation, prioritizing development along the China‑Laos railway “golden
corridor,” implementation of single‑site joint inspection (one‑stop,
two‑checkpoint) and an upgrade of the China‑Laos economic corridor. He urged
acceleration of the China‑Laos‑Thailand rail connection to deliver broader
regional interconnectivity, and promote cooperation in agriculture, power,
artificial intelligence and the digital economy. China said it will continue to
provide assistance within its capacity. Both sides witnessed signing of
cooperation agreements covering party relations, livelihoods, finance, customs,
trade, youth exchanges and media.
