Chinese photovoltaic exports rose sharply despite the removal of export tax rebates in April. Customs data show April module exports jumped 267% YoY and Jan–Apr 2026 cumulative PV shipments were up about 43% YoY. Demand is concentrated in Southeast Asia; firms in Zhejiang report full overseas order books, multiple plants at full capacity and shipments bound for Europe. Industry groups expect global PV additions to exceed 500GW in 2026; Chinese manufacturers say they are accelerating technology upgrades and shifting from scale expansion to quality and efficiency improvements.
