June 5, 2026 — Zhao Leji, member of the CPC Politburo Standing Committee and
chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, met in Beijing
with Lao People’s Revolutionary Party General Secretary and President Thongloun
Sisoulith. Zhao said bilateral ties are at their strongest under the strategic
guidance of Xi and Thongloun and pledged to implement the leaders’ strategy
consensus, deepen high-standard bilateral cooperation, and build a high-quality
China‑Laos community of shared future. China’s NPC offered to deepen
multi-level, multi-area legislative and rule-of-law cooperation with the Lao
National Assembly to support each country’s modernization.
