Minister Jim O'Callaghan has imposed travel bans on Israeli national security
minister Itamar Ben‑Gvir and finance minister Bezalel Smotrich. The government
said both have played significant roles in the worsening humanitarian crisis in
Gaza and that their statements and actions reflect an intent to remove
Palestinians from Palestinian territories; immigration officers will be
instructed to refuse them entry. The decision was agreed earlier this week
without cabinet approval, and Martin called on the EU to consider additional
sanctions. Martin and the foreign minister had earlier condemned Ben‑Gvir for
posting a video viewed as insulting humanitarian workers.
