China’s National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a
level-4 emergency response at 15:00 on June 6 for Chongqing and Guizhou after
forecasts showed a new heavy-rain episode from June 6–9. Meteorologists predict
heavy to very heavy rain, locally extreme downpours, and elevated risk of
mountain floods, geological disasters, floods on small- and medium-sized rivers,
and urban waterlogging.
