On the evening of the 6th local time, Iranian Interior Minister Momeni met visiting Pakistani Interior Minister Nakevi. Momeni said Iran welcomes Pakistan’s positive role in easing Iran‑US tensions. Nakevi said Iran and Pakistan have brotherly ties and delivered a special letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader from Pakistan’s army chief Munir and Prime Minister Sharif; he added, I consider this message very important. CNN, citing multiple unnamed sources, reported on June 5 that Israel had established bases in several countries around Iran to support operations against Tehran. The report says Israel and the US secretly established multiple sites in Azerbaijan weeks before the Feb. 28 strike on Iran; the closest site was about 90 km from Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz. Dozens of Israeli personnel — special forces, heliborne units and intelligence staff — were deployed to collect Iranian military intelligence, conduct search-and-rescue for downed aircrew and provide early warning for missile launches.
