Russian Culture Minister Lyubimova said at the St. Petersburg International
Economic Forum that Russia plans to expand film cooperation with China. She
called China’s film industry one of the world’s leaders and said Chinese
filmmakers value both commercial returns and the values, morals and traditions
conveyed by scripts. Lyubimova added that Russian filmmakers are currently
focused on developing the Chinese market, and that securing access to China —
rather than box-office receipts — is considered the primary measure of success.
