Netanyahu on Sunday to refrain from retaliating for Iran’s missile attack to
give diplomacy more time. The U.S. official said Trump urged a pause because “we
are close to a good deal,” and that Netanyahu raised objections but ultimately
“reluctantly agreed” to hold fire. The official described the call as calmer
than last week’s exchanges and said the administration believes the president
bought time and that Israel is unlikely to strike immediately; the official
quoted the president as saying the U.S. has “spent three months on this” and it
is time to finish it.
