Guangdong provincial flood control headquarters activated a level‑IV
flood‑control emergency response at 10:00 on June 8, citing meteorological
forecasts for heavy to torrential rain across June 8–9. Eastern Guangdong, the
southern Pearl River Delta and parts of western Guangdong face heavy to locally
extreme downpours; thunderstorms may bring short‑duration intense rainfall and
localized short‑term winds of force 8–10. Authorities said risks are elevated
for small‑ and medium‑river flooding, flash floods/mountain torrents, geological
hazards and urban and rural waterlogging.
