Electronic-grade fiberglass cloth, a key input for copper-clad laminates and
printed circuit boards used in data-center servers, smartphones and 5G base
stations, has seen five rounds of price increases so far this year; the
market-average price is 7.4 yuan/m, about 100% above last year’s Q3 low. A surge
in compute demand is driving the rise. High technical requirements for equipment
and process control are constraining capacity expansion; producers and industry
sources warn electronic-yarn expansion cycles are long and high-end capacity
will take time to come online, so supply tightness may persist and the timing of
a supply-demand rebalancing is uncertain.
