Tehran University professor Fouad Izadi said Israel, and Prime Minister
Netanyahu in particular, has never sought peace and deliberately sought to
derail Iran–US negotiations. Izadi added Netanyahu has postponed corruption
trial proceedings since the outbreak of war and Israel will hold elections later
this year. He said Iran rejects an "Israeli-style" ceasefire—agreements on paper
while attacks continue—and that a genuine ceasefire depends on whether Trump is
willing to restrain Netanyahu and push for an effective enforcement mechanism.
