China's ambassador to South Korea, Dai Bing, said in a June 10 interview that
Beijing is accelerating high-level technological self-reliance and expects Seoul
to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in technology and semiconductors,
citing complementary strengths and mutual benefit. He described China and South
Korea as strategic partners while noting Seoul's alliance with the United
States, and urged South Korea to manage ties with both countries based on its
fundamental and long-term interests. Dai called on the two countries to jointly
multilateralism, free trade and a UN-centered international order, defend and
said bilateral industrial cooperation should be advanced openly where it serves
both sides' interests.
