DR Congo's health ministry said the current Ebola outbreak has reached 598
confirmed cases, including 115 deaths, as of the 8th. 297 patients remain
isolated or hospitalized and 22 have recovered. Cases are rising week-on-week
with ongoing community transmission; the ministry warned the outbreak could
rapidly widen geographically without prompt public-health measures. Africa CDC
issued interim guidance to African Union members and flagged a high risk of
cross-border spread due to frequent movement, trade links and weak border
controls.
