The Canadian dollar tumbled to its weakest since December, with USD/CAD reaching 1.3969 on Tuesday, marking a year-to-date low. Brent crude, a key Canadian export, slid below $90/barrel, adding downside pressure on the currency. June 10 — The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said at a regular briefing that spokesperson Zhang Han said after peaceful reunification, with a strong motherland backing, Taiwan’s security guarantees would be improved and the war risk posed by 'Taiwan independence' would be eliminated at its root. Zhang said Taiwan residents would no longer be used as ‘cannon fodder’, residents’ money would not be spent on arms purchases, private homes and temples would not be stockpiled with ammunition, and external interference in cross‑strait affairs would be cut off.
