The New York Times says US consumers remain pressured by food inflation. Ground
beef is up 12.1% YoY and frankfurters 7.7% YoY; lettuce and tomatoes are also
markedly higher YoY. Egg prices rose 4% in May but are down more than 35% YoY.
Household-goods prices have fallen in recent months and are only up 2.4% YoY;
apparel is up 4.8% YoY. Medical goods, including prescription drugs, are down
1.8% YoY.
