China's embassy in South Africa held a video meeting on the 10th urging Chinese
firms and diaspora businesses to conduct compliance self-checks and shore up
security amid persistently tense local security conditions. Ambassador Wu Peng
warned the situation is tense and called for heightened risk awareness and
lawful operation. Firm and diaspora representatives said they will monitor
developments, strengthen security and emergency plans, and where necessary
shorten business and office hours, disperse operations and carry out mutual
inspections to eliminate illegal employment and ensure regulatory compliance.
