Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee attended a roundtable in Hong Kong on June 11 for Kazakhstan's Alatau city and said Kazakhstan is pursuing reforms and economic diversification to build a forward‑looking smart city. Lee said Hong Kong can support Alatau in three market‑relevant areas: as a global capital gateway offering bond issuance, listings and other financing; as a gateway to mainland China to link local firms with mainland supply chains and expand into Asian and global markets; and as a talent and technology partner, leveraging Hong Kong’s universities and innovation clusters to assist industrial upgrading.
